USC is hosting Will Howard, a major transfer QB prospect.
Kansas State quarterback Will Howard, a top-five signal caller on the transfer market, confirmed Friday he is on a visit with USC football. Howard shared on social media that he was at the Coliseum. Howard is one of several visitors, including high school students and transfers, on official visits this weekend.
Howard is the first quarterback USC head coach Lincoln Riley made a play for in the transfer market, flying to Kansas to visit Howard after he entered the portal earlier this month. He is the No. 19 overall prospect and the No. 4 quarterback in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings.
Howard became a name in college football in 2022, stepping in as Kansas State’s QB after injuries hit starter Adrian Martinez, leading the team to the Big 12 Championship. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Howard would bring much-needed experience to any quarterback room with 27 starts in 34 game appearances.
The Pennsylvania native had a middle-of-the-road statistical year this season with 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He also ran for 351 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Over his four-year career, Howard has 5,786 passing yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions,, with a 58.8 completion percentage. He’s also rushed for 921 yards and 19 TDs on the ground.

“We’re going to look in the portal at some quarterbacks,” he said in early December. “We’ll see how that thing unfolds. I like the guys that we have in the room, but you always have a responsibility to the team to continue to look at potential people that could come in and make our room and our team better. I’m not ready to say that we’ll for sure do anything. We’re going to evaluate and see how it all unfolds.”
