Louis Blues: Should the Blues bring back
A lot needs to happen for the St.Ryan Reeves.
Louis Blues to be successful in 2018-2019.
They need purpose, speed and tenacity.
Ryan Reaves offers his only one of them.
So should the team bring him back?
When asking the question mentioned in the title, you should be aware of the difference between should and could.
Could the St.
Louis Blues bring back Ryan Reeves?
Safe.
Should I do that?
Hmm.
.
.maybe.
This idea came to me when a friend of mine promised on social media that Reeves would be wearing the Notes next season.
This person doesn’t often make empty comments, so this got me thinking.
Will it be beneficial for the Blues?
On the surface, hundreds of people will shout “Yes!
” If you look at message boards and Facebook posts about the Blues, most of them are about how great Reeves was and how stupid the Blues were to let him go.
It’s interesting how some fans’ minds work.
I loved Reeves as much as the next man/woman, but it’s mind-boggling that someone whose career high was 13 points suddenly became second.
We all loved his stubborn spirituality.
We loved his tenacity and passion.
Reeves’ ability to get under people’s skin endeared him to all Blues fans.
We get really annoyed if someone blows us a kiss, but it was great because that was the type.
via GIPHY But despite all these intangibles, Reeves never managed to accomplish much with the Blues.
He was often a healthy scratch for many seasons.

That’s basically fine, but no matter how much you like someone, if you know you’re better than them, all you can do is listen to them tell you to be better.
It was obvious with this Blues team.
It would be equally obvious if Reaves, and only Reaves, returned to this current team.
Therein lies the problem.
Reeves’ return in and of itself does nothing except sell a few jerseys and make some fans happy.
He can’t win your games anymore.
He doesn’t care if it’s a playoff team or not.
Even as a longtime fan, the game is changing and Reaves’ spots are limited no matter what team he’s on.
Currently, you can basically see what you want to see.
Fans were happy with Reeves’ two playoff goals in Las Vegas.
What they don’t talk about is that he had zero goals on the season for the Golden Knights.
He scored four goals in Pittsburgh, but then nothing.
Both of his goals were important for Las Vegas, but they are the exception, not the rule.
Reaves has scored his three goals in the playoffs in his career, two of which he scored in this playoffs one of his seasons.
This is not a blow to him.
That’s just a fact.
He doesn’t get paid to score goals, so it’s more of a pleasant surprise when the goals come.
Still, he was a blemish on Las Vegas.
Additionally, as mentioned above, Reaves may not be your most important signing.
Everyone wants to see what the young talent is capable of, but if this team wants to compete now they will need to make some big moves in the offseason.
Whether this results in a trade or free agency is an open question.
The Blues seem destined to part ways with Scottie Upshall and Kyle Brodziak.
As such, the Blues will need a more typical player on the fourth line.

Reeves has been a great ambassador for the city of St.
Louis and could be again.
If he comes back, I don’t think there will be any major complaints.
But remember that there was no big protest when he left.
Sure, some fans were angry, but for most it wasn’t the end of the world.
When he returns, he must not put palm leaves at his feet.
So I’ll say it again: Can they bring him back?
absolutely.
Should I do that?
Only if you have previously made the necessary improvements.
