Jimmy Farkarlun, Antonio Gomez Sign With Austin FC II
Austin FC II announced today that defender Antonio Gomez and winger Jimmy Farkarlun had joined the team as MLS NEXT Pro players. Austin FC was where both players trained and competed throughout the 2024 preseason.
With the 31st overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, Austin FC selected Farkarlun, who will sign a three-year guaranteed deal with two extra option years in 2027 and 2028. Gomez agrees to a two-year contract that has two guaranteed years plus two option years in 2026 and 2027.
Jimmy Farkarlun
Bryant Farkarlun, who goes by Jimmy, is originally from Monrovia, Liberia. The 22-year-old winger recorded two (2) goals and one (1) assist across Austin FC’s preseason matches against LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls.
In 2020, Farkarlun started his college career at Houston Christian University, where he played in 47 games and finished with 17 goals and 8 assists. He scored nine (9) goals in his last season at HCU, three (3) of which were game-winning goals. After that, he transferred to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he played just one season for the Vaqueros but scored five (5) goals in twelve games, earning him a spot on the All-WAC First Team.
From 2020 to 2023, Gomez participated in 71 games for the California Baptist University Lancers while playing collegiate soccer. After CBU won the conference, the 6’2″ native of Las Vegas, Nevada, was named to the WAC All-Freshman team in 2021, the Second Team All-WAC squad in 2022, and the WAC All-Tournament team in 2023.
From 2021 to 2023, Gomez led CBU in minutes played for three seasons in a row.
