The NFL suspended Titans offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere forccfor breaking the organization’s gambling policy.
NASHVILLE: Nicholas Petit-Frere, a tackle with the Titans, has been suspended for six games for breaking the gambling rules of the league.
On Thursday, the NFL declared that three more players had received extended suspensions.
Petit-Frere was punished for using the club facility to wager on sports other than NFL games. All off-season and preseason events, including preseason games, are open to him.
The NFL’s gambling policy forbids anybody from participating in any kind of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility. It is reviewed annually with all NFL workers, including players.
Petit-Frere addressed the issue in a statement she published earlier in the day:
In a statement provided to ESPN, Petit-Frere stated, “First and foremost, I wanted to say that it’s an honor to play in the NFL and has been a blessing to play this game.” “The NFL intends to reveal new punishments pertaining to its gaming regulations, and I will be among the players who will be subject to a six-game suspension. I was not betting on the NFL.
connected to and was permissible by Tennessee law. Only because it took place at the Titans facility is it being approved. To my family, coaches, teammates, and Titans supporters, I sincerely apologize. Throughout my entire life, I have made an effort to abide by the rules. I did not intentionally disobey the rules. The details of betting from a team facility were unknown to me, even after attending a league presentation. During training camp, I’ll do all in my ability to support the team, and when the time comes for me to rejoin the roster, I’ll be ready.”
The following statement was also released by the Titans:
“The league has informed us of Nick’s ban. We have faith in Nick and are aware of his\
tremendous regard for our organization’s and the game’s integrity. We will keep stressing to our players how important it is to comprehend and abide by the policies and rules of the league.”
Petit-Frere, who was selected by the Titans in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, had 16 starts as right tackle in his debut campaign.
When the 2023 season gets underway, the team will need to decide how best to replace him.
