UNC Football Makes Move to Attract Athletes From the Portal

NIL campaign to raise $5 million will hopefully bring in new student-athlete transfers

The football team at UNC has been improving over the last few seasons. UNC should have been better, especially with quarterback Drake Maye leading the way, but an 8-5 season was a positive start for a program that is growing.

UNC is launching a campaign with a $5 million annual objective in an attempt to get better. The ad highlights NIL’s expansion since the NCAA permitted players to profit from their name, likeness, and image.

Salman Khan of BNN Breaking claims that UNC is running a campaign to get athletes onto the NCAA Transfer Portal.

“At the heart of this initiative is the legendary coach Mack Brown, who envisions leveraging NIL deals not only to retain his squad’s top talents but also to make North Carolina a magnetic destination for standout athletes from the NCAA Transfer Portal, especially focusing on bolstering the defensive line.”

In an attempt to improve in a challenging ACC, UNC has a number of players joining from the Transfer Portal for the next campaign.

The college football landscape continues to change and this is one sign that points to what it can become. It starts off at $5 million but in a few years, UNC could be looking for $10-plus million to land players in the portal.
