Even before Joey McGuire became the head coach of Texas Tech, this moment had been developing. The Temple, Texas, wide receiver is a five-star recruit and the first one the Red Raiders have ever signed. Hudson committed to Texas Tech verbally back in September. Many fans were worried that Hudson might de-commit if the season continued to perform far below their preseason expectations. Hudson is ranked among the top 10 national players (regardless of position) by the 247 Composite Rankings. He had offers from almost every program in the nation. At the conclusion of the season, Texas Tech had seven wide receivers go via the transfer portal. The Red Raiders’ worst unit on the field in 2023 was the wide receiver group. As soon as Hudson sets foot on the Texas Tech campus, he is expected to play. Despite his small stature (6’0), he possesses explosive athleticism that allows him to play both outside and in the slot. In open play, he is a dynamic playmaker. Zach Kittley, the offensive coordinator, should look for ways to integrate Hudson in the offense right away.
