Jaire Alexander will miss the Vikings game after being suspended by the Packers. JUST IN: Minnesota Vikings key player suspended for 15 games due to……..
Alexander engaged in “conduct detrimental to the team.”
On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers placed cornerback Jaire Alexander on the reserve/suspended list, suspending him for one game for “conduct detrimental to the team,” which means he will miss Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Alexander returned to the Packers on Sunday after missing six games with a shoulder injury, and he nearly botched the coin toss by telling the officials that Green Bay wanted its defence on the field, which is different from deferring the toss and could have prevented the Packers from receiving the second-half kickoff.
Alexander was not listed as a captain, but he went out for the coin toss regardless. He said it was “only fitting” that he was named captain because he was from Charlotte, N.C., where the Carolina Panthers compete. After the game, Packers coach Matt LaFleur called Alexander’s near-mistake a “big mistake”.
“The decision to suspend a player is never easy, and we don’t take it lightly. Unfortunately, Jaire’s actions leading up to the game in Carolina prompted us to take this action,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. “As an organisation, we expect everyone to prioritise the team first. Despite our disappointment, we had a good conversation with Jaire this morning and fully expect him to learn from this as we move forward.
together. We are excited to welcome him back next week because he is a valuable member of this team and will continue to be in the future.”
The Packers narrowly defeated the Panthers, 33-30.
Alexander has long been considered the Packers’ best defensive back. In six games this season, he has 26 tackles, four passes defensed, and one forced fumble. In 2022, he made five interceptions, a career high.
