Oakland Athletics release new renderings of proposed Las Vegas ballpark
Las Vegas, Nevada (KSNV) – As they proceed with their impending transfer to Las Vegas, the Oakland Athletics are unveiling new renderings of their ballpark.
After the Tropicana Casino is set to be demolished, a new 33,000-capacity ballpark is planned to be built. It will be located on nine acres of property on Las Vegas Boulevard between Tropicana Avenue and Reno Avenue.
According to A’s executives, the ballpark plan calls for up to 2,500 on-site parking spaces in addition to a two- to three-acre plaza that begins in the northwest corner of the property and runs to the main concourse of the ballpark.
Updated renderings were scheduled to be released back in early December but were delayed following the deaths of two Nevada State Police troopers.
BIG and HNTB are collaborating on the stadium’s design, which should be finished by spring 2028.
“The distinct culture and environment of the city inspired our design for the new home of the A’s in Las Vegas,” BIG’s founder and creative director Bjarke Ingels remarked.
The ballpark is surrounded by five pennant arches that provide shade from the Nevada sun and allow soft daylight to enter from the north. A magnificent view of the New York New York hotel skyline and the vibrant bustle of the Strip is framed by a massive window. The field receives natural light from the mild daytime, which is protected from all direct sunlight.
