Kevin O’Sullivan signs contract extension ahead of 2024 season

Before he begins his 17th season with the Gators, head baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan of the Florida Gators received an extension. The contract was signed by O’Sullivan in January.

The head coach of Florida was initially contracted through 2029. With this new deal, which runs until October 2033, he will be the second-highest paid SEC coach, after Tim Corbin of the Vanderbilt Commodores. His new average income will be $1,844,000 per year, which is over $600,000 higher than his present average compensation of $1,220,598.

In Gators baseball history, O’Sullivan is the most successful coach in the sport. He has played in Omaha on eight occasions and was instrumental in leading the Gators to their first College World Series victory in 2017. In 2023, O’Sullivan guided the Gators to the College World Series Championship; however, they were defeated by the Louisiana State Tigers in the last game of the tournament.

In addition to team success, O’Sullivan has earned SEC Coach of the Year three times and is the winningest head coach in Gators baseball history.

Florida kicks off its season with a three-game series against the St. John’s Red Storm on Friday at Condron Family Ballpark. Game one begins at 6:30 p.m.
