Former Rutgers star Jonah Jackson signs three-year deal with Rams
Jonah Jackson was added by the Los Angeles Rams on Monday afternoon, improving their offensive line. The Rams and the former Rutgers standout reached an agreement on a three-year, $51 million deal that includes a $34 million guarantee. For the past few years, Jackson has been a vital member of the offensive line for the Detroit Lions.
From 2015 until 2018, Jackson was a player for Rutgers. In order to play for Ohio State in his last season, he transferred.
Jackson is a gifted guard with a promising future who will join Los Angeles. He only made one Pro Bowl participation, in 2021, according to his resume. That season, the Big Ten product started every one of the 16 games and was a picture of consistency.
Jackson, who was selected third overall in the 2020 NFL draft, started 12 games for Detroit in the previous season and both of the Lions’ postseason contests. Now, he’s going to Los Angeles to set up blocks for his rookie teammate, Matthew Stafford.
In college, Jackson was a two-year starter for Rutgers before transferring to Ohio State. At Rutgers, the Media, Pennsylvania native earned first-team All-Big Ten and third-team All-American honors.
While the Rams improved a vital part of the roster, they are far from done. On Monday, they also signed tight end Colby Parkinson to a three-year deal. With Jackson and Parkinson in the mix, the Rams’ offense has gotten better.
