Elliot Millar Mills: Scotland prop signs new Northampton Saints contrac

Scotland prop forward Elliot Millar Mills has signed a new contract with Premiership leaders Northampton Saints.

The 31-year-old tight end first went on trial with Saints at the end of the previous campaign, and in May 2023 he inked a full-time contract.

Prior to the Six Nations this year, Millar Mills received his first call-up to the Scotland side.

Millar Mills’ effect for the Saints and Scotland was described as “really impressive” by Phil Dowson, director of rugby for the Saints.

“After the previous season, Elliot’s main goal was to establish himself and demonstrate his abilities. He’s seized his chances wholeheartedly,” remarked Dowson.

“He has developed into a tremendously successful player in our defense, and his running lines and ball-moving skills complement our style of play perfectly on attack.

In addition, he is a very distinct persona from the others in the group. Many of the boys have interests outside of the club, such as coffee. Elliot is learning how to code on his own. To truly make a squad cohesive and engaging, you need members with a variety of interests and viewpoints.”

Prior to joining Saints, Millar Mills had brief stints with Bath, Edinburgh, and the Barbarians due to the club’s financial collapse. However, his first taste of Premiership rugby came with his move to Wasps in 2021.

“I’m thrilled to extend my contract for an additional year because I’m really enjoying my time at Saints with the group we have here and the fun style of play,” he stated.

Being able to call myself a Scottish international is quite cool, though I haven’t given it much consideration as it’s all still very new. Without Saints, I could not have completed the task. At this time last year, I was unemployed.

“I could have given up on rugby if Saints hadn’t entered the picture, so this has been an incredible year.” By the conclusion of the season, I hope we can accomplish something truly unique together.”
