Chelsea are now ready to accept a £41m loss on Christian Pulisic – with Crystal Palace a potential destination for the American.
That is according to L’Equipe.
So, what is the latest on Christian Pulisic and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the United States international – who was called “talented” by Anthony Hudson – made just eight Premier League starts during the 2022/23 campaign as the Blues finished 12th.
Pulisic has therefore become surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge – although Chelsea are said to be finding it hard to offload him due to his £200,000-a-week salary.
Now – however – the man nicknamed Captain American may have found a new home.
L’Equipe believe Lyon’s American owner John Textor is pushing hard to bring Pulisic to France this summer, although the Chelsea No.10 still has a desire to make it in the Premier League.
Therefore, Crystal Palace – who are also owned by Textor – are mentioned in the piece as an option for the 24-year-old.
L’Equipe also state that Chelsea value Pulisic at around €20m (£17m) this summer, which means the Blues are willing to accept a £41m loss on their initial £58m investment made back in January 2019.
Chelsea should loan Pulisic to Crystal Palace
In our view, a loan move to Crystal Palace could be very good for both Pulisic and Chelsea.
The south Londoners have previously worked wonders with Chelsea loanees, helping Ruben Loftus-Cheek make the England World Cup squad after his loan to Selhurst Park in the 2017/18 campaign.
Crystal Palace also helped put Conor Gallagher’s name up in lights, which also propelled the midfielder onto the international scene with England.
Therefore, Crystal Palace could restore Pulisic’s value to what it once was by taking him on loan for the 2023/24 season – the Eagles could even make this deal a priority if Wilfried Zaha rejects a new contract and leaves for free.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the American looks set to leave Chelsea this summer.
