Review finds WKU basketball generated $2.25 million in economic impact

The Western Kentucky University basketball programs had an economic impact of almost $2.25 million on the Warren County region during the 2023–24 season, according to a research done by the Bowling Green Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The review concentrated on hotel nights brought about by men’s and women’s basketball home games.

WKU athletics has already this year generated approximately $5.75 million in economic effect between August 2023 and March 2024.

WKU men’s basketball hosted 14 regular season games at E.A. Diddle Arena this year, while women’s basketball played host to 14 opponents in the regular season and one in an exhibition. The two programs combined for a 21-7 record at Diddle Arena this past season, while over 55,000 people came to a basketball game in the gym.
