Fraser Dingwall: Northampton Saints focused on creating ‘ultimate performance’

Fraser Dingwall, a center for the Northampton Saints, thinks his team has what it takes to continue their dual-frontal assault on honours.

Saints defeated Bulls 59-22 to advance to the European Champions Cup semifinals, where they will play Leinster away the following month.

Prior to that, on Saturday, there will be a home East Midlands derby between Leicester Tigers and the league.

They will come after us because we are at the top of the table. We’ll take that challenge head-on,” Dingwall declared.

“My goal is to maintain a high level of similarity between games so that we can provide the best possible performance, as it has proven to be effective for us.

Thankfully, we play a position where, even if we don’t play to our best abilities, we still achieve outcomes “said the guy to BBC Radio Northampton.

Despite losing 26-17 at Welford Road in November, Northampton leads the Premiership by five points, and the seventh-place Tigers need to reproduce that victory to keep up their own play-off push.

Dingwall stated: “This entire week will be building to a big old clash on Saturday because they did us earlier in the season.”

“They’ve had a good run against us and it bugs us a little bit – well, it bugs me anyway.”

In their Champions Cup quarterfinal matchup with South African team Bulls, the 25-year-old scored one of Northampton’s nine tries, however he acknowledged that their performance was

The game was a little bit frustrating, it didn’t look like we wanted it to look but to get through to a semi-final, you’ve got to enjoy those moments,” Dingwall said.

“We got some things right but there was a lot of our game that didn’t really look like us. We really struggled to move the game out of our back end and there was a lot of looseness in there.”

But he added: “There’s been a lot of good memories for us in Europe already and to have a semi-final at Croke Park, I’m sure it will be rammed and such a special occasion. We’re going there with full intent to get a result.”
