Rhymes released a statement on Monday stating, “Ottawa was the first place I played pro ball, I started my career here, and met my fiancé here.” “It feels like I’m returning home, and I really am. Many of the guys from Ottawa are still close friends of mine; I’ve attended Grey Cup games and witnessed their babies’ births; it’s all pure love. I’m eager to get started.

Rhymes signed with Ottawa back in 2017 and played in 22 games in his first two years with the team. His breakout season came in 2019 when he caught 65 passes for 1,056 yards and five scores. Rhymes left the team after that season, but he and his family have continued to call Ottawa home.
