Jayden Quaintance, Memphis basketball target, commits to Arizona State
The courtship between the Memphis basketball program and Jayden Quaintance is over.
The Commercial Appeal was informed by his father, Haminn, that the 16-year-old, five-star power forward has committed to Arizona State. Over the weekend, Quaintance paid the Sun Devils an official visit.
Quaintance resumed his recruitment earlier this month, and shortly after, Penny Hardaway’s Tigers started heavily recruiting him. Quaintance had once signed by Kentucky. After coach John Calipari left the Wildcats, he asked to be released from the team.
In the ensuing days, Quaintance’s father, Haminn, told The Commercial Appeal that his son was looking forward to taking an official visit to Memphis last week. But that visit was postponed and was rescheduled for this week, Haminn said. Instead, Quaintance visited Arizona State.
