Paddy wins Player of the Month for April

Title-winning captain Paddy Madden has been named as the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month winner for April, after an incredible run of form that helped County surge to the League Two title.

To assist Dave Challinor’s team win, our illustrious Irish forward scored seven goals in seven games, including two hat-tricks in the first half in the span of four games.

This is Madden’s second Edgeley Park award; he previously took home the honor in November of 2022. With 22 goals in all competitions at the end of the season, the striker was our leading scorer.

Winning this award for April means a lot, because it’s come at the end of a month where we’ve achieved so much as a team and as a club.

When you come in for the first few weeks of pre-season and work so hard, it’s with the aim of going on to be successful come the end of the season. As a team, we’ve really stepped up when it mattered most to get over the line, not just for promotion but for the title as well.

To be able to captain this group of players and this club to a league title is one of the proudest moments of my career, and to score a hat-trick at Notts County on the night we won the league is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
