Newport County: Exiles in Will Evans contract talks as Graham Coughlan eyes more progress
Will Evans, the team’s leading scorer, is reportedly delighted at Rodney Parade, and Newport County is in talks with him about a new contract.
The forward, who has scored 22 goals this season, had offers for him rejected by the League Two team in January.
After losing important players to injury last summer, manager Graham Coughlan reports that he has undertaken contract negotiations with numerous members of his team.
The 26-year-old striker Evans stated, “I have a really good relationship with the manager.”
“We’re addressing it internally, and maybe we can find a solution.
Here, I’m content. With 15 games left and plenty of points to win, I don’t really focus on it; instead, my main goal is to end the season strong.”
Evans came from Bala Town in June 2022 with a two-year contract, though both the team and the player can choose to extend.
The club has rejected written proposals for the former Wales C international, who made headlines with a goal in the team’s FA Cup match against Manchester United, according to chairman Huw Jenkins.
