Cincinnati Bearcats basketball adds top Texas post Dillon Mitchell
Wes Miller, the head basketball coach at the University of Cincinnati, has landed a noteworthy Longhorn in 6-foot-8, 205-pound Dillon Mitchell, who will leave Texas and join the Bearcats for the 2024 Big 12 season, as players start to find homes through the college basketball transfer portal.
Mitchell announced his plans on Instagram on Thursday afternoon and contacted several national media outlets.
The 25th-ranked Longhorns defeated UC on a Max Abmas jumper in the closing seconds of their 74-73 victory on January 9th. The former five-star prospect started 71 of 72 games for Texas over the previous two seasons. Mitchell finished the game with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and a perfect 4/6 shooting percentage. He also made both of his foul shots.
“Everything’s falling into place,” says Jizzle James, a guard for the Cincinnati Bearcats who returns to Wes Miller for another season.
