Aston Villa will submit revised plans for phase one of their redevelopment of Villa Park in July.

Villa were granted planning approval from Birmingham City Council in December 2022, but the club have since decided to make some tweaks to their original plan for the area so all key benefits of the scheme can be delivered as quickly as possible. Plans are now well underway behind the scenes to realise the works to establish Villa Park as a world-class sporting and entertainment destination.

Villa will submit a new planning application for the renovation of the existing “academy/stumps building” which is located opposite the North Stand. The latest plan seeks to retain and revitalise the building to create a new multi-use experience and enhanced matchday and event fan zone.

This will involve a refurbishment to improve the visual appearance of the building, while the club will also introduce community and commercial activities there. The club’s administrative functions will be taken out of the North Stand and will also move to this building.

Villa now intend to accommodate the club shop and a new sports bar café into the North Stand, which requires some small design changes to the proposed new North Stand elevations.

The club have also stressed that their vision for Villa Live as an active lifestyle destination remains unchanged and their consented permission for the new building will stay active for them to deliver in the future. Villa’s new plans will enable them to deliver many of the benefits of Villa Live, however, in a shorter timescale while ensuring the plans are sustainable and are of high quality.
