Leeds United plan to unveil their kit for the 23/24 season next month, but their sponsorship deal with gambling firm SBOTOP hangs in the balance as they sign up with Fulham this week.

Leeds are out of the Premier League, and with it go a lot of the club’s lucrative streams of revenue such as TV rights and sponsorship agreements.

With the club facing a great deal of change on and off the field, as the 49ers Enterprises wait for their takeover to be ratified.

Will Leeds have SBOTOP as their sponsor next season?

After three seasons of having Malaysia-based gambling firm SBOTOP as the front-of-shirt sponsor for the club, doubts are cast over their presence next term.

Fulham have confirmed today that SBOTOP will be their new sponsorship for the 23/24 season, with the firm’s chief executive Bill Mummery, saying this about the new partnership (via the YEP):

“We are delighted and excited to bring our two ‘Premier Brands’ together. Jointly, we look forward to increasing both our brands’ awareness on a truly global platform in the coming seasons.”

The YEP also revealed that there is uncertainty around whether they will still be sponsoring the front of Leeds’ shirts for next season:

“It is unclear whether Leeds’ ‘multi-year partnership’ with the gaming firm will continue into 2023/24, if they will remain as Leeds’ principal shirt sponsor for another season, or new commercial deals have been sought.”

When is the new Leeds kit released?

Images of Leeds’ new kit for next season have been leaked quite frequently already, as the club look set to follow a similar three-stripe pattern with Adidas that has been used for Sweden’s kit:

The above YEP report also outlines that Leeds are expecting to reveal their new kit next month (July), as the club kickstarts their pre-season schedule.

It would be good to see the club ditch a gambling sponsor and go for something far less morally questionable.

However, it’s hard to avoid such lucrative deals, as well as the fact that gambling is plastered across the sport, when we take part in the Sky Bet Championship.

With the 49ers taking over, you would think there are some more viable options out there for us commercially.
