Wilfried Zaha has sent supporters into overdrive with a cryptic social media post.
The Crystal Palace star’s contract expires on Friday June 30 – just a day after he made the post.
There is genuine uncertainty regarding his future, with Zaha weighing up a club-record £200,000-a-week offer from his hometown club as well as several lucrative offers in England and abroad.
The 30-year-old, who scored seven goals in 27 Premier League appearances last season, is keen to test himself at the highest level and compete in European football, with interest from the likes of French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Wealthy Saudi Arabian sides and Italian club Lazio also reportedly want to sign skilful forward Zaha on a free transfer.
And as he considers his options, he posted a picture of himself returning to the club’s Copers Cope training ground in Beckenham.
Appearing to take the snap from his car, Zaha added the captionless post to his Instagram story.
One of the best players to ever play for the club after coming through the Eagles’ academy, Zaha recently arrived back in England from his stag do following his engagement to partner Paige Bannister last year.
Veteran manager Roy Hodgson is set to stay as boss for another year after his stunning impact upon his return to Selhurst Park last season.
He sparked an immediate upturn in form, winning five and drawing three of his 10 games in charge, as well as reinvigorating midfield talent Eberechi Eze, and has a good relationship with Zaha.
But the 75-year-old is hardly a long-term option and may not have the pull for new signings that his predecessor Patrick Vieira did.
Zaha must now decide whether to test himself in a new environment or whether to stay. If he remains in south London, he would write his name forever in the club’s history and may be the first Palace player to earn a statue.
He teamed up with famous rapper Stormzy to buy their childhood ninth-tier football teamed based in their local Croydon.
