The Yorkshire Evening Post have claimed there is a ‘good chance’ Leeds United find success in their bid to keep Max Wober at Elland Road this summer despite the club suffering relegation, with Wober only joining in January.
Wober, 25, joined Leeds in January for £11m – another example of the club backing Jesse Marsch, only to sack the American a month later. Wober has since clocked up 19 appearances for Leeds, but has had a couple of injuries.
While Leeds suffered relegation, he was one of a small handful of players that can come out of this season and be happy with their performances. Leeds looked much more solid with the Austrian in defence, alongside Robin Koch.
The Athletic recently reported that Leeds are desperately trying to convince Wober and Tyler Adams to remain at Elland Road. Now, the YEP claim there is a ‘good chance’ that Wober will stay put, having only just joined the club.

Wober in the Championship is a game changer. Leeds need consistency this summer and keeping the Austrian helps that in defence. What it will do, will increase competition in the middle of the defence, with Liam Cooper.
Charlie Cresswell starred at Championship level on loan at Millwall and he is likely to be a direct replacement for Robin Koch – who, with his deal ending in 12 months, is more than expected to depart. Three very solid options.
Pascal Struijk can play in the middle, as can Rasmus Kristensen – who has said this week since Leeds went down, that he is open to staying. A player Jesse Marsch said is the “best” passing centre-back he has worked with.
