Liverpool have reportedly made a club record €200m (£170m) offer to sign PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe, who is believed to be up for sale.

According to journalist Edu Aguirre, the Reds have launch a huge bid to bring the 24-year-old French international to Anfield, with Liverpool long viewed as a potential destination for Mbappe once the superstar attacker decides to leave France for good.

Aguirre said: “What has occurred, in the last few hours, in the offices of PSG is that an offer from Liverpool has arrived. Liverpool have entered the scene, Liverpool have made a €200m offer for Mbappe. The offer from Liverpool that has arrived in the last few hours in the offices of PSG is of €200m. Al-Khelaifi has put Mbappe up for sale.”

Whilst the validity of such an outrageous claim is yet to be determined, Liverpool making an offer as big as £170m for Mbappe would be quite the statement from the Reds, with the PSG attacker arguably the current best player in the world.

However, claims like this should be taken heavily with a pinch of salt. And with Liverpool rumored to be looking to move players on before signing anymore names, Jurgen Klopp’s side launching a £170m bid for Mbappe feels somewhat farfetched.

Liverpool signing Mbappe would be the biggest twist of the summer

Liverpool and Mbappe have been entangled in every transfer window for the last five years, and this summer could see the rumours come to a head with PSG now open to selling the French captain, though a move to Liverpool would be quite the shock for many.

As we know, Liverpool currently don’t have the funds to make such a transfer possible, and even if the money was there, it’s unlikely that Mbappe would be willing to sign for a club who are not even in the UEFA Champions League next season, despite how big a club the Merseyside giants are.
