Leeds United are likely to already have transfer agreements in place to bring in players very soon, potentially as early as next week, and plenty of targets have emerged.
Transfer business is always a hot topic of conversation during the off season for Leeds, especially so this summer with the club needing a huge overhaul in a short space of time.
The first hurdle has been overcome with the appointment of Daniel Farke as manager, and now the club need to build a squad fit for a promotion push.
Who have Leeds been linked with?
The Athletic’s Phil Hay has now revealed a list of those that Leeds are looking to sign this summer, with the Championship the chief source of the club’s interest.
In the midfield, Leeds are looking at two top-performers from the EFL, as he reveals interest in both Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer and Bristol City’s Han-Noah Massengo on the shortlist:
“Leeds have an interest in Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer and Han-Noah Massengo, the 21-year-old who is out of contract at Bristol City. Massengo would command a compensation fee due to his age.”
When could these players sign for Leeds?
In terms of actual agreements in place, Leeds are in a very good position to get signings through in the coming days, potentially in next week as the side prepares for Oslo and a battle with Manchester United.
Hay also spoke on The Square Ball podcast, where he said:
“The incomings will be on Farke’s mind more than anything else. That’s going to start very soon. Whether by Friday, I’m not so sure but I think in the next week we’ll start to see movement.
“I’m told that there are [players ready to join] as in players that are already agreed and ready to go but it would be really good if that was the case, even in a handful of situations.
“Hammond has had two or three weeks inside the building now so you would very much like to think that they’re on with what they want to do and want to get the ball rolling.”
These two would be some way to level up in the midfield, given how poor we were last season in that area of the pitch – aside from Tyler Adams.
EFL experience is massive and here, you have two top operators in the second tier, and two players that would instantly show our ambition.
Get them in and all of a sudden, you have fans well on board with the project under Daniel Farke after a slow start.
Hamer was one of the best midfielders in the division last season, dragging his side to the playoff final (and scoring) alongside Viktor Gyokeres, and would show a real statement of intent.
