The Evening Standard have revealed that Harry Kane is set for crunch talks with Daniel Levy and Ange Posteoclgou about his future when he reports for pre-season training next week.

On Wednesday, we relayed a report from The Guardian, which claimed that Spurs had offered Kane a ‘massive new contract’, which would significantly improve his current £200,000-a-week terms.

However, the report added that the England captain had no intention of signing the deal, especially when the transfer window remains open.

Crunch talks expected between Kane and Levy

This claim has now been backed up by The Evening Standard, who state that Spurs will attempt to persuade Kane to sign the new mega-offer but the striker does not want to do so yet.

It is explained that the 29-year-old is keeping all his options open, including leaving this summer, leaving on a free next year, and signing a new deal at Spurs, although the latter is considered ‘the least likely scenario’ out of the three.

The report reveals that Kane is yet to meet Postecoglou and will hold talks about his future with the Australian when he reports to Hotspur Way next week.

The Evening Standard also add that while Tottenham do not wish to sell their talisman, they would be forced to listen if an overseas club makes an offer in excess of £100m.

Spurs Web Opinion

I simply do not see any reason why Kane would commit himself to a new contract right now. I also believe that it would be a huge gamble for the club to allow the striker to run into the final year of his contract.

Unless Postecolgou performs a miracle and gets us competing for a league title next season (which is exceedingly unlikely), I do not see Kane being tempted to sign a new deal.
