Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath doesn’t know if he will be at the City Ground next season. The USA stopper won promotion to the Premier League for the second successive season on Saturday as Luton reached the top flight.

Horvath was allowed to head to Kenilworth Road shortly after Forest won promotion to the Premier League. The Reds signed Dean Henderson and Wayne Hennessey, shunting the American down the pecking order.

The 27-year-old had a season to remember with Luton. Rob Edwards oversaw a remarkable run of form that saw them get into the play-offs comfortably and then win promotion to the Premier League.

Horvath was instrumental to the team’s fortunes too. He kept 20 clean sheets for the Hatters and now the speculation has begun over whether or not he will be back for next season.

The stopper isn’t sure what the future holds for himself going forwards. He’s been discussing his future with Luton Today and he’s quite relaxed over the whole situation.

He said: “No, nothing has been discussed for next season, so I have no idea what’s going on. I will maybe have a couple of days off and then we’ll see what’s going on.”

Horvath doesn’t know if he will remain at Forest

The Reds stopper does have another year to run on his deal but it’s unlikely he will play in the Premier League. As a result, if there is a chance for him to go somewhere else that should definitely be looked at.

Horvath is a decent goalkeeper. He’s kept a large number of clean sheets during 2022/23 but he’s also had some awful moments where he’s cost his team goals.

At 27, and having got a taste for regular football, he will want to be playing. It’s not likely that he will do that at Forest and surely the club will consider cashing in this summer.

Forest will go in search of another goalkeeper in the summer. They might even sign two. With that in mind, the Reds will surely inform Horvath that he’s not required on Trentisde beyond this summer.
