Nottingham Forest are keen to complete the signing of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa during the transfer window. The Reds are going to be in the market for two goalkeepers, with Dean Henderson from Manchester United expected to be one of them.

According to The Telegraph, Sa is now on the shortlist at Forest. He’s been with Wolves since 2021. He replaced Rui Patricio who headed to Roma and signed from Olympiacos where he worked under Evangelos Marinakis for three seasons.

Sa has been a quality performer for Wolves. Last season, he played all but two of the 38 games his teams played in the Premier League. In October, he saved a Brennan Johnson penalty as Wolves beat Forest 1-0 at Molineux.

Despite being the number one in possession of the gloves at Wolves, the club could sell him. Initial talks between Forest and the Molineux-based outfit have taken place and he could cost as little as £6 million.

Wolves have financial fair play breathing on them and several departures have already taken place. Nathan Collins and Ruben Neves are two of the most high-profile departures, with others expected to leave.

Sa has made 76 appearances for the club in total. He’s kept 23 clean sheets during that period and would likely represent a pretty shrewd signing by the Reds.

Forest keen to complete the signing of Sa this summer

This one has come out of the blue somewhat. Still, Sa would be a pretty good signing considering that he wouldn’t cost much at all. Furthermore, it’s already evident that he’s capable of playing in the Premier League.

Andy Thompson spent several years at Wolves. Back in August 2022, he called the goalkeeper ‘outstanding’ and claimed that he’d proved to be a real bargain when Wolves signed him for £7 million.

It’s probably wise for Forest to try and target two new goalkeepers this summer. Henderson has spent a long time out injured and perhaps it’s not wise to place the sole responsibility on his shoulders.

Rumour rating: 8/10 – There is a lot to like about this one. Sa is a quality Premier League goalkeeper and he’d represent a really good piece of business.

At 30-years-old, Sa shouldn’t be considered old for a goalkeeper. He still has a few years left ahead of him and at just £6 million, the signing could prove a very useful one.
