Leeds United have booked a medical in to complete the transfer of Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer guru has shared that the Wales international will also sign on the dotted line today (Tuesday 18 July) ahead of the announcement.
Personal terms have already been agreed with Chelsea including a sell-on clause in the deal as the player prepares for life at Elland Road.
Announcement.
It looks as though we are already set for the first senior signing of the 49ers era at Leeds United.
The takeover was only fully green-lighted late on Monday evening, and the American consortium appear to have many deals lined up and ready to go.
It is strange to only hear about a deal once it has been wrapped up, but that may be how our new owners work and it feels like a breath of fresh air, if we’re honest.
Daniel Farke will no doubt feel delighted to get his first real signing over the line too, and will feel heavily backed after a period at Norwich where the same cannot be said.
After looking at his squad and holding talks during the interview stage, it looks as though the midfield was a real problem given that Marc Roca has left and Tyler Adams could do the same.
Ampadu can fill that hole with ease, and he can play along the defence too, handing Farke real versatility in his team selection in a gruelling Championship season.
With the medical booked and contract signing today, it won’t be long until this one is announced.
