COVENTRY City have announced the signing of exciting Dutch wing-back Milan van Ewijk from Eredivisie side Heerenveen for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 campaign with the Dutch club, scoring six goals in 34 league appearances.
And van Ewijk has signed a four-year deal with the Sky Blues to become the club’s seventh addition to the squad this summer.
van Ewijk said: “I’m very happy to be here, I’m excited to be here, I’m really happy.
“Coventry showed bigger interest in me than the other teams and were saying nice things, they were really pushing and when you find out a team really wants you like that, it’s hard to say no.
“The style of play really suits me, I’m really happy to be here, the choice was easy to make, I will give everything I have and play with my heart, I’m a pacy defender, I like to go up and down the pitch for 90 minutes.
“It’s a big move, it’s a new challenge, I’m not scared of a challenge, I’m waiting to see how far I’ve come from where I started.
“I would like to work my way into the starting XI and that’s the first important thing, I would love to score
“It feels good to be a Sky Blue.”
City beat off stiff competition to secure the full-back’s signature who has won eight caps for Netherlands under-21’s.
van Ewijk began his career with Excelsior Maassluis before moving to Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag in June 2019.
The right-back made 46 appearances for Den Haag, scoring one goal, during his two seasons with the club before joining Heerenveen ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
And van Ewijk quickly established himself in the Heerenveen side, playing in all but one league fixture over the last two seasons.
