One of Leeds United’s key new Championship rivals have agreed a deal for a big-money sale of a star man.

Southampton are third favourites behind second favourites Leeds for the 2023-24 Championship title but the Saints will be bidding for promotion without England under-21s international Tino Livramento who is poised to join Newcastle United.

The Champions League-bound Magpies have agreed a deal to sign the right back for an initial fee of £32m although the price could rise to £40m for the 20-year-old if performance-related clauses are met.

Southampton will begin the new Championship season this evening against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Another star man in Mohammed Salisu departed the Saints to sign for AS Monaco on Wednesday in a deal worth around £17m but the club who are now managed by new boss Russell Martin have signed Ryan Manning from Swansea City and Shea Charles from Manchester City this summer as well as Josh McNamara from City and Derrick Abu from Chelsea.

Leeds United‘s firm Harrison-Sinisterra-Adams stance and eight injury doubts on Farke agenda

Daniel Farke faces the media today in his Cardiff City pre-match press conference with Leeds United and here are some of the topics he may be faced with at Thorp Arch

Daniel Farke faces the media on Friday afternoon for his pre-match press conference. The Leeds United manager will take questions from television, radio, print and online journalists at Thorp Arch ahead of the Cardiff City clash on Sunday.

Here is a run-down of some of the main topics on the agenda for the boss to address at the training ground today.

A comprehensive injury round-up

Farke has been speaking to the media after the club’s friendlies this summer, but with so many other more pressing topics to discuss, injury updates have gone under the radar. The German will be asked to sum up where Stuart Dallas, Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, Sam Greenwood, Tyler Adams, Georginio Rutter and Cody Drameh are at with their recoveries.

What’s the club stance on big-name exits?

There has been plenty of rumour and speculation around the big-name exits expected out of Leeds this summer. There have been myriad loans, but no permanent exits driving significant revenue for the Whites.

Who has clauses? Who could still leave? How much resistance can the club put up on some players? What messages has he been getting from those names being linked away?

Fringe names likely to go?

Lewis Bate, Helder Costa and Sonny Perkins have all been conspicuous by their absence from the team during this summer’s pre-season friendlies. What does the future hold for them?

Goalkeeper battle

Karl Darlow arrived shortly before the final friendly with Heart of Midlothian and he was named on the bench with Illan Meslier keeping the gloves. How has this week’s training gone and how does he expect to manage that rivalry between two bona fide first-choice stoppers?

Financial clarity

It may be tied up in the general transfer questions asked at the head of the press conference, but one strand Farke has pulled at this summer is the financial restrictions Leeds are working within. He might perhaps be asked to expand on how tight those limits are and how closely sales are tied to purchases.
