Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive includes a potential double boost for weekend opponents Leeds United
Leeds United are trying to rush through two new signings before their trip to Birmingham City this weekend.
The Athletic reports that Leeds, now managed by German coach Daniel Farke, are in advanced talks to sign Max Aarons and Joe Rodon from Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. Aarons is due to join permanently, while Rodon is being lined up for a season-long loan at Elland Road.
Farke coached right-back Aarons during his four-year stint at Carrow Road and the pair won two promotions to the Premier League. Aarons, 23, will become Leeds’ fourth signing of the summer after deals for Sam Byram, Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow.
Rodon looks set to become their fifth new arrival. The Wales international has struggled for game-time with Tottenham since leaving Swansea City in 2020, and he spent last season on loan with French club Rennes.
Both Aarons and Rodon could be signed in time to feature against Blues at St Andrew’s on Saturday. Blues will host Leeds in their first home game of the season after successive away trips to Swansea and Cheltenham Town.
The game will be the first at St Andrew’s since Tom Wagner and Knighthead purchased their controlling stake in the club last month. Blues are expecting a sell-out of around 21,000, with capacity still reduced due to ongoing repair works in the Tilton and Kop stands.
