PL club waiting on Leeds United permission to sign forward expected to play v Birmingham

Leeds United are yet to make a decision on Willy Gnonto’s future as they deal with his refusal to play in midweek, amid his agreed personal terms with Everton.

The Whites have a few major transfer decisions to make in the coming weeks of August, knowing that there are still a few outgoings yet to be sanctioned that could well go through.

All the talk is about how Leeds deal with Willy Gnonto, who was absent from the EFL Cup clash with Shrewsbury after requesting not to play.

Gnonto to Everton?

Building on this, it was reported on Thursday by Fabrizio Romano that Everton are set to push hard to sign Gnonto this month before the transfer window shuts.

That is because Gnonto has agreed personal terms to join the Toffees on a five-year contract from Leeds, hence why he refused to play on Wednesday.

What’s the latest?

The Daily Mail are now reporting that the Goodison Park club are waiting to hear from Leeds on their decision around the forward, having already had a £15million bid rejected:

Farke was coy on the matter when asked in his pre-match press conference yesterday, only revealing that the forward has trained well, and is expected to be available for tomorrow’s trip to Birmingham – per The Athletic.

Everton want Gnonto, but to get him, they are going to have to pay the money that we want for him, or it won’t happen.

Gnonto can kick up a fuss and act poorly all he wants, but he won’t leave until the money comes in, which I imagine it will.

He shouldn’t stay, because he will not get a good reception if he comes on against Birmingham to a chorus of boos from the away end.

Side before self, every time.
