Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has confirmed that winger Helder Costa wants to leave the club.

Costa has been away from Leeds at Valencia and Al Ittihad on loan over the last two seasons, but returned to the club earlier this summer.

It was thought the winger could be involved as Leeds begin their Championship campaign, but he

And the winger looks like being on his way out, with Farke confirming that Costa is keen to leave Elland Road this summer.

The German manager told his press-conference after the Birmingham game: “Quite open with Helder he wants to leave the club.”

Farke is willing to now trust those above him at Leeds to bring in the reinforcements needed in what remains of the summer transfer window.

“There’s confidence. I totally believe in the quality of our people”, he said.

“Sometimes it’s a bit difficult. We can’t make ourselves a different reality. But it’s about staying calm, not to panic.”

Leeds did make a signing within the last few days, with defender Joe Rodon arriving at the club on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tom Brady inspired Birmingham City players with ‘secret’ advice ahead of Leeds United win

Preview: Birmingham City v Leeds United - Leeds United

Birmingham City co-owner Tom Brady gave players an inspirational speech ahead of the 1-0 Championship win over Leeds United.

Birmingham City’s new co-owner Tom Brady gave some special words of advice in the dressing room ahead of the 1-0 win over Leeds United, head coach John Eustace has revealed.

In attendance alongside Tom Wagner for Blues’ first home fixture of the season, Brady made his presence known by introducing himself to the squad and giving an inspirational speech.

It wasn’t the most entertaining of encounters at St Andrew’s as just three shots on target were achieved by both teams combined, but a stoppage-time penalty from Lukas Jutkiewicz raised the roof.

The lack of attacking action was soon forgotten – for Birmingham at least – as Eustace’s men continued their unbeaten start to the campaign, soaring up to ninth in the table with a vital three points.

Blues showed fight and desire from the first whistle, something that has been instilled by the head coach from the very beginning. But some extra pre-match advice may well have helped too.

“The new owners came into the dressing room and congratulated the lads. It was great to see Tom Brady in there. Tom spoke to the group in a meeting before today as well,” Eustace admitted post-match.

“For one of the most famous sporting people in the world coming down to chat to the group, they were all really excited to hear what he had to say. He gave some really good advice,” Eustace continued.

With everyone in the press conference understandably intrigued as to what Brady said, it was then asked immediately – but Eustace kept it very secret. “I can’t tell you that,” he said with a chuckle.

It wasn’t just on the field and in the dressing room that Brady’s impact was felt, either, as supporters were greeted by the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s presence at a local pub ahead of kick-off.

Pints were seemingly on him as the NFL legend chatted away and took photos with supporters. Even despite a fairly lacklustre game on the whole, something tells us it won’t be long until Brady’s back at St Andrew’s.
