Crystal Palace in surprise swoop for £80k-a-week Manchester United star to bolster Roy Hodgson’s squad

Crystal Palace are looking to sign Dean Henderson to replace the want away Vicente Guaita.

Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson according to a report in the Sun.

Crystal Palace are in the market for a goalkeeper after reports emerged that Vicente Guaita was looking to force a move back to Spain having fallen out with manager Hodgson since he returned to the club to replace Patrick Vieira last season.

Nottingham Forest were the frontrunner but seems to have backed out in recent weeks as they disagreed on a fee with Manchester United for their number two goalkeeper. Henderson spent last season at the City Ground with Forest even though large parts of his campaign was cut due to an injury he picked up.

Henderson and current Palace No 1 Sam Johnstone are close pals and would be battling for the first-team jersey even though the Eagles are said to be looking at him now for a loan deal without necessarily looking for an outright purchase.

Crystal Palace had a brilliant start to the season when they travelled to Sheffield United and grabbed all three points on the opening day. They face Arsenal on Monday night at Selhurst under the light and will hope they can get all three points to continue life after Wilfried Zaha.

Eagles winger Michael Olise who recently signed a new long-term deal at the club is not expected to be part of the team having just returned to training from a hamstring injury that has kept him out for a while, however, his decision to snub Chelsea’s interest and stay in south London is a massive boost to the team.
