Leeds United have less than two weeks to complete their summer transfer business
Daniel Farke is preparing himself for a few more sleepless nights as Leeds United head into the final two weeks of the summer transfer window. The Whites have just 12 more days to do business before the deadline passes at 11pm on September 1 and the hope is that they can add to their threadbare squad with a series of new signings before then.
Of course, Farke has been consistent in his belief that the club need to recruit in almost every position and he’ll be keen to see a number of holes filled at the back end of what has been an extremely challenging couple of months. The German will also be hoping that Leeds can successfully prevent more talent from leaving the club this month.
So far United have seen 13 players leave the club and that’s before Tyler Adams’ switch to Bournemouth, but there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding key men. Both Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra have refused to play in recent weeks to attempt to push through exits, while Illan Meslier, Cody Drameh and Leo Hjelde are amongst those who have also been linked away.
As such, while the manager will be hoping for a successful few days in the window, he’ll also be relieved to see the back of it as he craves stability.
“On the 2nd of September I will have a proper sleep,” the German laughed when asked whether he’ll be happy to see the deadline pass. “At the moment the days don’t have enough hours, I have to prepare the lads for being ready for West Brom.
“It was so difficult with the tactical approach to prepare them, you watch many games but on the other hand you watch so many scenes of players, potential incomings at the moment it is like no private life.
“You find it difficult to find sleep over the days, but listen, I lead a privileged life and I don’t complain, I also don’t want any sympathy or feels for me. I am living a privileged life and for me I am just grateful to work in a responsible role for this great club and also in this leading role, to be allowed in these difficult and challenging times to lead, to help a little bit for easier times soon.
“I am grateful and thankful, it is a joy to work for this club and also, a bit more sleep would be nice.”
