Pundit says he was actually impressed with 27-year-old Wolves player vs Brighton

Former Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards has insisted Hwang Hee-chan was ‘excellent’ against Brighton when he came on as a substitute on Saturday.

Wanderers sit 19th in the Premier League table after two games.

It’s two defeats to start with, despite Wolves having 38 shots on goal across those two matches.

On Saturday, Wolves were comfortably beaten 4-1 by Brighton, who scored three goals in a 10-minute period straight after the break.

Kaoru Mitoma got the ball rolling for the visitors, and further goals came from Pervis Estupinan and Solly March, who bagged a brace.

It was then about having a bit of pride for Wolves, and Hwang did pull one back after coming off the bench.

And Edwards feels the South Korean is now knocking on the door for a start…

Dave Edwards impressed with Hwang and feels he’s fighting to start for Wolves

Like many Wolves fans, Edwards was so disappointed with Saturday’s showing from the team.

Wolves looked so good against Manchester United, but just could not replicate that level of performance.

That said, Wolves were playing a much better, more organised team in Brighton.

But Edwards had a positive word for Hwang in his latest Express & Star column.

He said: “After that devastating 10 minutes, I was impressed with how Wolves regained some momentum and in particular Hwang Hee-chan was excellent coming off the bench.

“He is a player that should be fighting to start games. He’s the most likely goalscorer and is very direct in his play. Cunha also picked up some wonderful positions and drives forward with the ball, even if his end product let him down. He’s just missing a goal or assist to his game.”

Hwang must start against Everton

Hwang,27, has looked sharp for weeks now, and deserves the chance to play from the start.

At the moment, he does look the best source of a potential goal for Wolves.

Arguably, he’s looking as good as he did when he first joined the club on loan from RB Leipzig.

With Matheus Nunes now suspended, you would think that Gary O’Neil will be strongly considering Hwang to start against Everton.
