Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Facundo Buonanotte is closing in on a loan move to Championship side Leeds United, as per reporter Victor Bilsky (via SussexWorld).

Buonanotte, 18, made 13 Premier League appearances last season. He scored just the one goal for Brighton, but is widely regarded as one of their next big prospects.

He joined the Seagulls from Argentina in January after he registered six goal contributions in 24 league outings in his home nation.

The versatile attacker can play on either flank or down the middle and has already picked up his first cap for Argentina.

But, it appears Brighton think a loan move is best for his development with Daniel Farke’s Leeds United said to be leading the race for him this summer.

An exciting move

The 18-year-old will no doubt benefit from consistent senior game time which he may struggle to get in a thriving Roberto De Zerbi side. A move to the Championship could help him gain momentum before returning to the Premier League ready to make an impact regularly.

Leeds United have had a manic summer and they remain desperate for reinforcements before the summer deadline to ensure they stand as good a chance as possible of challenging for promotion this season.

Farke’s side could do with someone who can both score and create chances and Buonanotte offers just that. He could well hit the ground running in the second tier if a deal is agreed and immediately start to help push the Whites in the right direction.

This wouldn’t be the first loan player Leeds United have taken from Brighton with Ben White previously proving a success in the past.

Up next for Leeds United is a trip to Ipswich Town this weekend.
