‘HEAD MAY BE TURNED’: PLAYER WHO SNUBBED WEST HAM COULD JOIN TOTTENHAM
Conor Gallagher could reportedly decide to leave Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea and join Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur despite turning down a move to David Moyes’ West Ham United.
According to The Daily Mail (Transfer Live blog, 8:53am, September 1, 2023), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Conor Gallagher from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Gallagher is aware of interest from Tottenham in him.
Conor Gallagher could join Tottenham Hotspur from Chelsea
The England international midfielder turned down a move to West Ham United earlier in the window after the Hammers made an offer of £38 million to Chelsea for him.
However, according to the report, “his head may be turned by Spurs given that opportunities may be limited under Mauricio Pochettino”.
Gallagher has made three appearances in the Premier League and one in the EFL Cup this season.
Chelsea have just signed attacker Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
We will be surprised if Gallagher does decide to leave Chelsea for Tottenham today.
Yes, there will be strong competition for places in the Chelsea first team in the coming weeks and months, but Gallagher has been a regular so far this season.
The 23-year-old should back himself to continue to play week in and week for the Blues.
And if Gallagher does lose his place in the team, then he could always consider his future when the transfer window opens again in January 2024.
