Tom Cannon: Leicester City sign striker from Everton on five-year deal

Leicester City have signed Tom Cannon from Everton on a five-year contract for an undisclosed amount.

Cannon, 20, appeared four times for the Toffees, most recently as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, he scored eight goals in 21 Championship outings for Preston North End on loan last season.

Meanwhile, Foxes midfielder Boubakary Soumare has signed a season-long loan deal with Sevilla.

Soumare has appeared 59 times for the club in the two years after joining from Lille, although he has not appeared at all this season under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Cannon is the King Power Stadium’s sixth permanent addition this summer, joining four other loan signings as Maresca rebuilds the Leicester squad following relegation.

“When a club like Leicester comes calling, it’s hard to say no,” the striker told the club’s website.

“Everyone understands that the club belongs in the Premier League.” I’m sure that’s the goal this season, to return to the top and then take it from there.”
