Everton injury update: Jack Harrison

The winger has yet to make his Blues debut.
New Everton acquisition Jack Harrison has been sidelined by injury recently, but manager Sean Dyche has provided an important update on his return timeline.

Will Everton make a decent signing in Jack Harrison?

The Blues faced an important Premier League battle away to Sheffield United on Saturday lunchtime, seeking for their first point of the season after three consecutive defeats in the tournament.

They accomplished just that, with Arnaut Danjuma scoring in the second half after Everton had taken the lead before falling down to the Blades. The outcome should be viewed positively by Dyche, who saw signs of improvement on Saturday, with Danjuma and Beto making an impact in attack.

The Merseysiders are currently missing several players due to injury, including Harrison, who came on loan from Leeds United late in the summer transfer window. Despite being relegated to the Championship last season, the 26-year-old has been a regular performer at Elland Road for an extended period of time and might bring end product to the team.

The Englishman has yet to play for his new club due to injury, but a new claim claims that could change in the coming weeks.

When will Jack Harrison return from his injury?
Dyche confirmed Harrison’s return to the pitch, and thus his Everton debut, at his news conference following Saturday’s draw away to Sheffield United [via Liverpool World]:

“Obviously, Dom is likely to be fit, and Dwight has had three days of training, which I don’t normally do, but we were stretched and thought it was important to have him involved.” He’ll profit from the next few weeks, Dimi Gray will benefit from the next few weeks, Seamus is coming closer, and Jack Harrison will get closer. There are numerous indications that there is still a squad here.”

This is encouraging news for Everton, as are Dyche’s other player updates, with Harrison looking like a particularly smart buy this summer.

The winger has established himself in the Premier League for several years, scoring 21 goals and making 16 assists in the competition, and he is capable of thriving in wide offensive zones as well as centrally, immediately increasing the manager’s squad depth.

Harrison had previously been rated as “fantastic” by YouTuber Conor McGilligan and as a “proper goal threat” by Neil Redfearn, demonstrating the impact he may have at Goodison Park if he can overcome this injury and is given playing time to prove himself.

The importance of squad depth at Everton cannot be overstated, allowing Dyche to bring on talented players from the substitutes’ bench while also rotating his squad effectively, and in Harrison, the Blues have someone who could chip in with goals and assists, work hard for the cause, and still improve as a player, given his age, and he appears to be available sooner rather than later.
