‘It’s horrible’: Micah Richards and Theo Walcott show sympathy for £15 million Wolves player Wolves lost to Crystal Palace yesterday – and Sasa Kalajdzic made another substitute appearance.
Gary O’Neil resisted the temptation to start the Austrian when he scored against Blackpool last Tuesday.
Kalajdzic is now being monitored with caution, having recently returned from an ACL injury.
Last season, Kalajdzic was injured on his debut for the club against Southampton.
He did not play again in 2022/23, as manager Julen Lopetegui was obliged to leave him out of his updated Premier League roster following the January transfer window.
Micah Richards and Theo Walcott, two players who have dealt with catastrophic injuries, both expressed their sympathies for the Wolves striker on Sky Sports yesterday.
Micah Richards and Theo Walcott share Sasa Kalajdzic’s feelings.
Yesterday, just before kickoff, Sky Sports aired a brief segment about Kalajdzic.
Obviously, he scored the late winner against Everton the previous Saturday.
As a result, he was focused ahead of the game.
“It’s horrifying,” Richards remarked. I believe we’ve all suffered knee injuries. It’s quite difficult to train on your own. I’m not sure if you’ll be the same player when you return.
“But to get the winner against Everton here… that’s just what you need.”
“It’s an upward journey,” Walcott remarked. It is a difficult period to be a professional footballer, but it shapes you into a really strong character. If you can recover from anything like that on your own, you’re fighting yourself every day in your head. I’m happy for him because I’ve been there myself. It’s not a pleasant voyage for anyone.”
After overcoming difficulties, Kalajdzic has made a strong start to the new season for Wolves.
Fans rarely see what a footballer goes through when they get a catastrophic injury.
Wolves did an excellent job of highlighting the process in their documentary about Kalajdzic’s recovery.
It must be quite difficult mentally at times.
Kalajdzic has now scored two goals for Wolves, which is excellent.
The £15 million star is still recovering from his horrific injury, so scoring twice already is quite positive.
Hopefully, it won’t be long until he gets a run of Premier League starts.
