Bristol Rovers vs Cheltenham Town injury news – as five ruled out and one doubt

Latest injury news ahead of Bristol Rovers v Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy.

Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham Town meet in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night at the Memorial Stadium.

Both clubs have a midweek match before having the weekend off due to a slew of international call-ups, which will allow both teams to rest. Neither team has won this championship, but both will be eager to get off to a winning start with a chance to play in the final at Wembley Stadium.

As for team availability, Jordan Rossiter is the only player that Rovers can’t consider in contention because of injury. The 26-year-old damaged his meniscus in the competition against MK Dons back in December, and underwent surgery but he hasn’t yet returned to training, and is still recovering. He didn’t take part in pre-season training, and his return date is still yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, James Gibbons has yet to make a match-day squad, with it unclear whether he is still recovering from a pre-season injury or is being held back by Luca Hoole and Jack Hunt.

Hoole, however, is unavailable for selection after being called up to the Wales under-21 team. He is vying for his fifth cap for his country this week, with a home qualifier against Liechtenstein at Rodney Parade on Friday, followed by a trip to Lithuania the following Tuesday.

As for Cheltenham, wing-back Luciano D’Auria-Henry is unavailable for Cheltenham after suffering an injury. Former Bristol City midfielder Wade Elliott was busy on deadline day, and has recruited Josh Williams from Birmingham City following an injury to Fulham defender D’Auria-Henry.

Rob Street meanwhile suffered a suspected broken nose at the weekend against Barnsley, but is expected to be fine. Nottingham Forest loanee Oli Hammond is ruled out also, as is James Olayinka.
