Following the departure of the Wolves, Matheus Nunes leaves a cryptic message.
Matheus Nunes has stated that he will disclose the ‘ real reasons’ for leaving Wolves for Manchester City on deadline day eventually.
The midfielder said his goodbyes to Wolves fans in a mysterious social media statement as he completed a £53 million move to the Premier League champions.

Nunes went on strike and refused to practice after Wolves rejected City’s original proposal in order to push the move, which was finally approved late last week.

“The time has come to say goodbye to the club that allowed me to play in the best League in the world, and to the club for whom I have always had deep admiration and respect,” Nunes wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement. Thank you to the Wolves, the staff, my teammates, and especially the incredible fans for your unwavering and heartfelt enthusiasm and support.

“I really appreciate the meaning of the word commitment, and that was what was always present in my daily attitudes over the course of a year that will live on in my memory forever.” I could go on and on about the true reason for my leave and how it occurred, but all I’ll say is that the fans deserve all of my respect, affection, and deep appreciation.

“Everything happens for a reason, however incomprehensible it may appear at first glance, but I am confident that the future will clarify it, and at that time, everyone, without exception, will understand the reason for this last troubled week.” Thank you, Wolves fans; you will never be forgotten.”

Due to a lack of training time with the group, Nunes was an unused replacement in City’s first game, a 5-1 victory over Fulham.

“I am delighted to be here and to be a part of this amazing club,” Nunes said in a second post following his move to City. I will do all in my power to help us achieve our objectives and make you people appreciate my football. Thank you for the pleasant welcome!”

Wolves were able to make more late acquisitions after his departure, as four players came through the door.

Enso Gonzalez and Santi Bueno arrived for £5 million and £8.5 million, respectively, before Tommy Doyle was announced shortly before Nunes’ exit was confirmed by both teams.

Wolves then recruited Jean-Ricner Bellegarde in the latter hours of deadline day, who the club hopes will be a more direct replacement for Nunes.
