Everton manager Sean Dyche responds to Demarai Gray’s remark about respect

Sean Dyche has been forced to tell Demarai Gray “the truth” after the winger claimed the Everton manager did not respect him.
Gray has not featured this season because Dyche claims he refused to practice after being linked with moves to Saudi Arabia and Fulham.

Nothing came of it before Friday’s European deadline – Saudi Arabia’s is Thursday – but after being left out of the squad again for the 2-2 draw at Sheffield United, Gray took to Instagram to vent, writing: “It’s so difficult to play for someone who doesn’t show you respect as a person.”

Dyche has now taken the rare step of addressing the subject in a club media interview.

“It’s unfortunate because I try to keep our company in-house.” “I believe it is appropriate to respond on this occasion,” Dyche stated.

“Demarai made it clear that he felt he was getting a move (away from Everton) and that a move had been completed, which was interesting to hear from a player.”

“We reminded him that no moves are made without the permission of this club.”

“We look after these players; we look at all of the different ways to look after them: mental and physical well-being, tactics and technical, and physical.”

“When it gets to a time like that, you say, ‘Wait a minute. You made it apparent that you didn’t want to train, that you didn’t want to be here, and that you had a pre-arranged move.

“We said it wasn’t a done deal because this is the most important club.” This club will make decisions about your future as players, not the other way around.

“I believe it is appropriate to inform our fans of the truth.”
