According to Fabrizio Romano, an agreement between Everton and Al Ettifaq for the transfer of Demarai Gray is reportedly “sealed.”

The dependable Italian journalist offered an update on Twitter (6 September), revealing that an £8 million deal for the permanent transfer of the 27-year-old winger has been negotiated and will be signed today.

Gray, who represents Jamaica in international football, has already passed his medicals with the Saudi Arabian team ahead of the transition.

After Everton approves the transfer, he will sign a four-year contract.

Inevitable

This seems to be a case of when, not if, and the when appears to be now. Gray had clearly lost interest in playing for the Toffees after publicly feuding with his manager, Sean Dyche. As a result, this change may be best for all parties concerned.

Why Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray are absent for Everton

For Everton, it ends a transfer drama that had become a distraction and allows the team to now fully focus on the next season. Meanwhile, it allows Gray to make the move away that he was clearly eager to do and focus on his football while also likely earning a solid payout.

He was one of the club’s leading scorers last season, but with the arrivals of Beto and Arnaut Danjuma, fans will hope that his presence isn’t missed too much in the next season as they attempt to avoid relegation.

In other Everton news, there has been considerable reaction to another player leaving the club.
