After finalizing the transfer, the defender sends a heartfelt letter to the Wolves.
BirminghamLive brings you the latest Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer news as the team prepares for the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Nathan Collins has sent a lovely farewell letter to Wolves fans as he prepares to begin the new season with Brentford.

The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international joined the Bees earlier this week after the teams agreed on a £23 million fee. This provides the central defender a chance to play more regularly in the first squad after he was mostly used as a substitute in the second half of last season after Wolves bought Craig Dawson to join Max Kilman.

Wolves made a profit on the £20.5 million they paid Burnley for the former Stoke City defender last summer. Wolves have made it clear that they regard Collins highly and believe he has the potential to play for a top-six club, which is reflected in the stipulations linked to the Brentford deal.

Collins, for his part, has expressed gratitude to his former team on social media, writing: “Thank you Wolves. It was an honor to represent this enormous club. It wasn’t the season we had hoped for, but I’m delighted we were able to turn things around and secure Premier League football for another year.

“I want to thank the owners, management, backroom staff, and players who have been fantastic with me since day one.” Finally, a particular thank you to the fans who stood by us and provided the encouragement we needed to get through a difficult season. I wish you the best of luck in the future.”

Brentford shattered their club record to buy Collins, and the purchase has helped Wolves balance their books in order to comply with Financial Fair Play requirements. The club also sold Ruben Neves to Al Hilal for £47 million and Conor Coady to Leicester City for an initial £7.5 million.
