Bristol Rovers’ League One promotion chances rated against Derby County, Portsmouth and rivals
Bristol Rovers have taken six points from their opening six league matches and sit 17th in League One
Bristol Rovers will look back on their first six games of the League One season and wonder if they could have grabbed more points than their current record of six, despite a difficult schedule.
It has been a difficult start, having already faced two sides involved in last season’s play-offs in Barnsley and Peterborough United, as well as two sides considered pre-season favourites for promotion in Portsmouth and Charlton Athletic.

Many teams have had their odds trimmed following great beginnings, with Exeter dropping from 28/1 to 8/1 to win the Championship, despite being top of the league on goal difference.
There have also been numerous adjustments in relegation odds, with Oxford in particular witnessing a significant difference as their chances of slipping down to League Two have increased from 11/1 to 66/1, with the Us being among
Following a mixed start, Rovers’ promotion odds have increased from 10/1 to 16/1, while their relegation odds have decreased somewhat from 13/2 to 9/1. If you were thinking about betting on the Gas getting promoted, now might be the time to do it, with Joey Barton’s side showing hints that they’re not far away from connecting.
But, following the first round of fixtures, where do Rovers and their League One competitors stand in terms of promotion and relegation odds?
