‘Positive step’: Everton has just released some incredibly excellent news for its fans this afternoon, as Seamus Coleman appears to be on his way back to the club.
That is the suggestion made after the club posted recent photos of the Toffees captain working on the grass on social media.
Coleman was photographed practicing alone in the scorching weather of Merseyside on Friday, with Everton captioning the photo, ‘Back on the grass!’ Captain Coleman made a positive step this week at Finch Farm in his comeback from injury.
The 34-year-old has been out of action since injuring his knee ligaments during Everton’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City in May.
Coleman was thought to be out for some time, and there were many concerns about whether he had played his final game for the club he joined 14 years ago, but the injury wasn’t as terrible as first feared, and he then signed a new one-year contract at Goodison Park.
The right-back had surgery before the end of last season and has been rehabilitating at Finch Farm since.
Everton could welcome back Seamus Coleman next month.
Coleman revealed his injury to Irish website The 42 last month, claiming that he hoped to be back in action in six to eight weeks, putting his return in early/mid October.
“I’m fine,” Coleman said. I’m better than I expected to be going off the field against Leicester City that night. That night, I didn’t have the finest of thoughts.
“It was a significant injury, but I am recovering well, hitting all of my targets thus far, being back on the grass over the last few weeks, not with the team but with the physios, back with the ball, and that.”
“Right now, I’m doing all of that.” Perhaps in six to eight weeks, I’ll be fully recovered and feeling terrific.”
According to Everton’s newest update, Coleman is still on schedule and working hard to get back in shape after missing the Republic of Ireland’s EURO qualifiers against France and the Netherlands this week.
Sean Dyche and the fans will be glad to see the veteran return to the team in a month or two, with Nathan Patterson filling his spot in the backline so far this season.
