Report: Everton are still working really hard to offload 30-year-old this month

Everton are still hoping to show Andre Gomes the exit door this month.

That’s according to TEAMtalk, who have reported that the Toffees would ideally like a permanent exit for the midfielder.

Gomes joined Everton on loan from Barcelona in 2018, before making the move permanent in a £22 million deal a year later.

After suffering a serious ankle injury that kept him out of action for three months during the 2019/20 season, Gomes was unable to impress at Goodison Park and quickly fell down the pecking order.

The former Portugal international enjoyed a successful loan spell with Lille last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 26 matches.

Gomes was heavily linked with a return to France this summer, with journalist Marc Mechenoua reporting that they had failed in their last-ditch attempt to bring him back on transfer deadline day.

While the article indicated that Everton would only allow him to leave if he was replaced, they are now reported to be looking to relocate him while some transfer windows are still open.

Is it still possible for Everton to sell Andre Gomes?
The Toffees are anxious to gain a price from Gomes’ exit, and they are willing to let him leave on loan despite the fact that his contract expires next summer.

The midfielder is claimed to be earning £120,000 per week on Merseyside, so it’s no wonder that the club is eager to get him off their books.

According to the source, Gomes has had interest from Saudi Arabia, and he has also met with clubs in Greece, Russia, and Qatar.

The Saudi transfer market closes on Thursday, but clubs in Greece, Russia, and Qatar can still fight for Gomes beyond this week.

Sean Dyche plainly does not want the 30-year-old in his first-team plans, but his departure would leave them short-handed in the centre of the park. Because Alex Iwobi has joined Fulham, Gomes may have to stay to make up the numbers.
